big oops, how long will it take for wood rot to set in?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its fine just soak it up, a solid wood stand will be ok. since you have a tile floor it should be ok, since the water wont soak through and weaken the wood floor.

oh and heres the icing on the cake. ive had this fx for about 6 months now. it was so quiet, the only thing i heard from it was the water movement. now it has this slight buzz to it.

The wood should be fine. I've had 2x4 stands in basement floods with no problem at all. If its a particle board stand , thats another story. Those things are like sponges and lose structural integrity fast.

yea that happens to some filters when you maitenence them. check the seals, maybe wait tell the impellar gets some gunk on it for lubrication

I siphoned 10 gallons of water from my 75 gallon when I unhooked my pennplax canister during a power outage and didn't realize one of the valves wasn't completely closed. I left the house and came back an hour later to a massive mess. My stand is fiberboard, luckily it seems to still be sturdy.

dang that sucked i bet, but did you do almost the exact same thing 45 mins later?:screwy: if not, i got ya beat:grinno:

the other night i was filling up a rubbermaid container to top off my tank. i blame my friend for this, but he called me, started talking about something and i completely forgot i was filling up the tub until about 5 gallons of water was on the floor    horrible. first time i forgot i was doing that. and the worse part was that the container has a few holes by the handles so not only was the top overflowing but i still had another 4 or 5 inches down the bucket to dump before it would stop coming out of the holes by the handles. so not only did my kitchen floor get soaked and i had to clean up and use all my towels, but i got soaked from trying to rush and dump the rest of the water in the sink until it wouldnt be up past the handles. never again...
