Thanks to MFK I knew what to do when the power went out and I only had one fish die. Anyone else have power-out stories?

My power outage story is stupid, but...
Back when I used to keep goldfish, there was a power outage, and nothing died because it only lasted 1 day.

Fish can can die from lack of oxygen, temperature decrease or increase, high waste build up and stress during power outages.

the buildup and lack of oxygen has been a problem in these situations for me, especially in overstocked tanks.

yep lack of oxygen is what killed my first dat... my favorite dat too!! that guy ate from my hand... now my replacements are scared and do nothing but hide.... soo lame...

All of my fish are air breathers (gourami's and bichir's). How well do fish that take gulps of air do in a power outage?

I have air pumps on all of my aquariums too. Is it true that this could make my fish less resilent to lower oxygen levels during a power outage? When people talk about battery powered aerators are they talking about the kinds that are used for fishing bait(I have never noticed them in a pet shop).

I'm assuming that hob do pretty well if the power goes out and comes back on while you are not around. I've tested mine before by unplugging them and they seem to fill themselves back up when plugged back in.
