My tank has become cloudy almost murky could almost look like alot of alge..

I cleaned the sponge part of my filter by washing it? there was no problem with that untill a 2 days after now its been like this for 4 days im concerned.(yesterday i put in new charcoal still nothing...) im crazy with my water changes 1 a week 25% same day wensday. still did not clear up... I am 100% it is not from over feeding my gar eats whatever i Put in there rapidly fast.

could it be the filter problem what could it be?

do u mean that u cleaned the filter sponge before this thing happened? if so... u probably killed all the benefcials bacteria its housing, thus causing ur tank to go on a mini cycle again.. if thats what it is dont worry about the cloudy water, its just bacteria blooming again. It will settle as soon as the bbs are able to cope up with the bioloads.

if its been only 4 weeks it should subside on its own. It's just a bacteria bloom as the previous posters suggested.

You guys should find out what it is before trying to fix the problem. You say it looks like algae, do you mean a green cloud? Is so, it is likely that it is from overfeeding/low water change levels. It also can be caused by excessive light. However, if it doesn't have a green color it could be many other things, so the color of the cloud is critically important here.
