Just scored a deal I couldn't refuse. I got 4 huge RBP's on a moments notice Here are some quick pics of them in my watering tub which will house them for a week. The biggest one must be close to 10 inches long and 2-2.5 inches thick.

GEEZ!!! What brutes!! Can't wait to see the profile shoaling pics. Awesome pickup. Congrats!!

Thanks for the compliment. Is there anything I can feed them to restore their red bellies? Or is it lost at this size? Thanks,
Mike

Carotenes will boost the red somewhat. If they won't take prepared foods, gut-load the minnows you offer them so they can get the elements that way. Providing a dark substrate tank with cover offered by driftwood, etc will darken them up quite a bit, too.

Will do and thanks for the tips.

Oddball’s been greedy and stole all the advice and answers *only joking hehe*

But yea, gutload feeders with colour enhancing and vitamin rich pellets for the time being. A dark substrate will make them darker in general, and hence the red belly as well. While once they get more comfortable to their new surroundings you will notice more colour on them as well.

Cant wait to see pictures when they are settled into their new tank! Good stuff!

nice pick up mike, what size tank you get them going into ? is it a full planted or semi ?

Haha Dan you must have been rushing this morning. Wish I could say they were my piranhas, but they are in fact Mikes. Unless I have missed something and Mike C’s actual name is Josh? Hehe

I have a 50 gal I can use. I wont put too much in the tank with them to take space away. Do you think 12'' is wide enough though? Thanks for any suggestions.
