Haha Dan you must have been rushing this morning. Wish I could say they were my piranhas, but they are in fact Mikes. Unless I have missed something and Mike C’s actual name is Josh? Hehe

I have a 50 gal I can use. I wont put too much in the tank with them to take space away. Do you think 12'' is wide enough though? Thanks for any suggestions.

Mike

RBP as far i understand need atleast 20 gallons per each one, because they are already huge getting bigger than an 80 something like a 90 or a 100 wouldnt be a bad idea.

no way can u put 4 10" or so RBP in a 55g...i have 4 rbp in a 55g and they are 6" and its cramped. when i had 23 rbp all around 8"-10" i had them in my 265....they need room. You will do a water change once a day if you keep them in a 55g they produce too much waste for that tiny t

Yeap as said, no way can your red bellies fit in a 55 gallon for any amount of time really. Definably 20 gallons per piranha applies here. And i would look at 18 inch depth from back to front. With such a small tank, a huge amount of filtration will be needed just to keep the water ‘liveable’, while aggression would be huge amongst themselves. You will end up with ‘once gorgeous piranhas’ as ‘now tattered and possibly fatally injured piranhas’.

:nilly: Those are some great P's you got there, but I don't think they are reds. They look like they have a red anal fin with a silver body, which are the characteristics of a Cariba. All that means is it's that much better of a deal. And they will grow alot bigger on you. Please post better pics so I can tell for sure.:nilly:

My gosh, you may just be right, I think I can make out very faint humeral spots on at least two. Though this may just be my crazy eyes..
Some sideways-on pictures would help greatly!

i am pretty sure they are RBP just not used to their living environment, being transferred to wherever they are in now, lookin like a box, will do that to them instantly.

Def. need some side shots:confused: Also it doesn't have to have a humeral spot to be a Cariba. When they get that big, thier humeral spot doesn't always show like that. I've had 10"&11" Cariba and both had a faint humeral spot, you could only see it when the light hit it right.

omg! thats a nice deal! mind telling us how much u got them?
as far as i remember RBP's will sometimes lose thiser reddiness on their bellies but will definitely come back when theyre relaxed and adjusted to the environment...
btw, very nice pickups! :headbang2
