My gar loves to eat Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets. You could also try some market shrimp. Just break off a piece and stick it onto the end of a toothpick and wiggle it in front of your gar. Eventually he should snap it up. It's not always easy switching your gar over to food other then live feeders. Just don't give up.

Okay thx :D one more thing....my Gar isn't the only one in the tank.....
I also have a Channa Striata ( Snakehead ), and the snakehead is like 5"
1 " bigger than my Gar. My tank's big...but should I be worried about my Gar?

Well they are similar sizes but just keep an eye on them. Snakeheads are voracious predators and if it ends up growing faster and bigger then your gar, watch out! You also will want to keep an eye on them when they get toward adult size because gars don't fight back when they are getting picked on. I guess the same can be said while they're young as well.

Roger that! Although I don't think they ever WILL fight...the snakehead's hiding in a cave all day when It's not food time, and the Gar's on the surface.
And they both got 420 liters of water to swim in xD

if you're not, you should be! channa are prolly one of the worst tankmates for juvvy gars. esp if the channa are larger.

Well now you'll be happy when I tell you that I felt concerned about this whole situation, so I moved my channa to my other tank (50GAL)
I brought like 30Gallons of water from my big tank so the bio won't be messed up :) So now my Gar's alone in the big tank together with a Flying fox, a small Redtail and two gibbiceps :)

Its better to get your gar onto dead foods as soon as possible if you dont want it to turn into a PITA to feed.
I started my gar on prawn, I cut the prawn into strips and threaded a piece onto fishing line, then I just jiggled it in front of the gar like a lure eventually the gar took it and the bait just slides off the end of the fishing line.
I did this in a small tank so it was easy to dangle the food close to the gar, in you size tank it may be a bit more challenging.
good luck!

cute little gar.
