I am searching for a 200 gallon tank and am having trouble finding one locally. The stores have up to a 150 tall which is nice but 180 or 200 is better. Can anyone recomend where to find one either locally or somewhere with cheap shipping? Got 3 baby pacus that I dont want to stunt. I live in the omaha nebraska area.

Post a WTB(want to buy) thread in the Market place. Good Luck! What size tank are the pacus in now?

Only a 200g with three Pacu?

You sholud be looking for even bigger if you plan on keeping those to adulthood. They will outgrow that tank very quickly.

I'm pretty sure 3 pacu will become stunted in a 200 gallon, if your really serious about keeping these fish you should add another zero to that tank size...

Like already stated a 200 gallon is too small for 3 Pacus longterm But most lfs will special order larger tanks but you would have to pay upfront also theres alot of deals on craigslist or you can have one built by Glasscages or Tenocor but I would suggest building a pond.

I knew i should have stated, to avoid all these unnecessary comments, that I know how big these fish get and they will only be in the 200 for about a year until I finish plans for a pond, or if I have the money a real whopper of a tank. I'm still renting and want to be more sure I like this spot. So dont worry everyone! Ive done my research. To answer jml1195's question they are in a 55 but are only an inch and a half tops right now. ANd thanx for the WTB suggestion. I'm new to forums so I dont know the details yet.

Things don't always go according to plan. When we moved our two pacu into their 300 gallon tank, I knew that I had about three years to decide if we would need to upgrade. At year three, we decided to upgrade. Unfortunately, we are now in year two of our upgrade, and we still are not close to setting up the tank. Next month will make two years since I purchased my big tank. The addition we are having to build to house the tank is the holdup.

If you maintain excellent water parameters, your pacu can survive in a 200 gallon tank for a while. I believe Red Devil had her 7-yr-old pacu in a 210. She was in the process of upgrading to a larger tank when they died tragically in a tank explosion/fire. Our pacu have been in their 300 gallon tank for 5 1/2 years. It is definitely too small, though....they just don't have a lot of water to swim in.
