For those who were wondering, my african arowana lives with a hystrix stingray and used to live with two scobina stingrays as well, there was never any issue with the afro bothering them. They would just swim away and he would constantly be spitting substrate all over them which was funny.

Now with the hystrix there are still no problems.

I think it makes a cool combination.

Yes John I still have it, I just cant believe me and you are the only ones that think xander should be cautious about the afro/ray combo- but Ill tell them anyway, you better chime in too though-
the reason me and John were advising to be careful, was a month or two ago I gave John an alby channel cat(we know its not a ray, but it does have the same amount of scales as a ray, and hangs in the same strata) it was between 20"-24" I forget-
then, 2 or 3 weeks ago John took ownership of an afrowana that I had raised, it was 22" long, and peaceful in several different communities and tanks it had been in-
he picked up the afro in the evening, I think it was the very next day- I got a text from him saying it was terrorizing the tank- and left the cat skinless! that happened from the time he went to bed to the time he woke up-

ouch, i am aware that H.Niloticus can and do get aggressive, which is why i would watch it when/if i add rays into the mix:) i saw the original thread that john posted, thanks for the heads up
