do you think it would be ok to do like a 95% water change without having to recycle my tank. I would be leaving the filter alone(AC 50, Emp 400). And I have the bio wheels on the Emp 400.

Probably, but your fish won't be happy with 5% of their water to swim in. Why do you want to do such a big change? It won't cycle the tank again, but large water changes can kill your fish if they are sissy fish and the new water has significantly different parameters.

Depends, what has been your previous w/c schedule? If you have not been doing w/c on a regular basis and are trying to catch up with one big change...there is a good chance of killing your fish.

If you have be doing regular weekly w/c of 50%, then a 95% w/c will be fine as long as water params are matched.

The safest method would be 4 successive 50% w/c, though this would fall a few points under 95% once completed.

ive done 100% wc's plenty of times moving or swapping out tanks and have never lost a fish, including a young fahaka, which are pretty delicate when it comes to water perameters. as long as perams and temp are consistent with the old water you should be fine.

I left my lights on for a week during spring break and my water has turned green. I usually do a 1/3 water change but ive been doing 50% once a week to try to get rid of the water and it hasnt worked. and here is the fish in the tank 1 GTS 4.5in,1 Con 3.5in,1 Vieja Zonatum 5.5in. Also i would take the fish out and out them in another tank during the W/C.

You have an algae bloom, to get rid of you will need to reduce the light. You may want to try blacking out the tank for 5 days, with no light the algae will die.

I think i will do that before i try the water change. Thanks

Yeah, try that and do a water change halfway through. Leaving the lights off is very effective for killing the stuff.
