Bigger fish for 40 gallon?

I have a 40 gallon that i wnt to stock with bigger types of fish that could stay in 40 for life. Both bottom dwellers and swimmers, remember big, any ideas?

40 gallon and big fish are not really going to work. However, here is some to look into: cutteri, sajica, red ceibal, rainbow cichlid, salvini, convict, firemouth, jewel, krib. Best thing would be to browse the forums and read to gain some knowledge on different fish. Also the fish I listed can't all fit at once however most would work as a pair especially if its a 40 breeder.

Going "big" will probably only allow you to do something like a pair of medium (5"-6") cichlids, possibly a cleaner as well.

Of course if cichlids aren't your thing there's plenty of others to choose from. Just do a little homework and you'll find something that jumps out at ya'.

Hey thanks guys that mini monster thread really helped had no idea senegal bichirs could live in 40 gallons that and the little wolf fish are beast ya i know 40 aint huge but it gotta do for now. Any others?

Tank is 4 ft x 1 ft x 16 in. Im really into plecos and bichirs, are there any bichirs that could go in the 40 with a pleco and how big do they get
