Hi Everyone!

I just joined MFK as I am relatively new to keeping larger aggressive fish but am completely in love with the hobby. Currently, I have a 65 gal tank that's housing a Senegal bichir, a baby leopard pleco, and two small ropefish. But I know I need to upgrade to at least 100 gal before everyone gets too big. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where I could get the best bang for my buck for a larger tank? I'm saving my cash and window shopping, but I really want to know what others think about quality larger tanks for a decent price. Thanks!

Yes actually. Are there any filter systems you feel are superior when it comes to larger tanks? How beneficial would an aeration system be for Polypterus species? And if it’s recommended, what would you suggest?

I'm a fan of diy filters,so you can modify them to your specific needs and wants.
Aeration is beneficial to all fish, as it allows your fish to more easily get oxygen and helps nourish beneficial bacteria in the tank

Welcome aboard.
As others have said Craigslist, Offerup,Letgo all great places to look. I got both of my 125s from them. A TruVu acrylic for 209, and a never used glass for 400. So keep looking great deals will show up.

As far as airation goes I use Ehiem 400's. Very nice air pump, and only eats 4watts of power. Has two separate lines each one can be controlled separately on how hard it pumps. The emitters can also give small or big bubbles up to you.1529800364276303822971.jpg
