Yeah would be awesome to hear from this guy! Since then i still doubt it is that heavy. Of course grown up hoplias are very bulky in built, but this fish just looks way to short to reach that weight. We have many huge carps around here which are much more massiv in built because of the height of the body and 40kg is a world record carp and very very fat like a pig.

They can carry the weight differently, and that bigger arapaima has got to be a good 6-7 feet. The other one that he was very close in size too, especially girth had to be atleast 5 imo, I wouldn't doubt it being 40"+ and weighing that much.
