Biggest fish in ct?

Probably a channel cat, their in alot of ct waters, including the ct river, quinebaug, pachaug river, shetucket, and french river. Ive caught many during day and night while fishing for carp with oatmeal. As for your question on biggest northeast freshwater fish, if we exclude any anadromous species its between channel cats carp and northern pike in my opinion. Pick up an anglers guide it gives a list of waterways alphabetically and lists MOST of the fish in them.

Well I did research and a stream that leads into naughatuck river.
I havent found out what are native to that strech of river.ive seen some odd things in that river. Last week I swam a good mile or so down river looking for some nice pieces of driftwood and I found a red ear slider I tried to catch it but couldnt keep up with it in the water.

Fish get introduced all the time and species find their way around. Ive fished the Mill river for over 15 years and never caught anything bigger than a 24" carp, all of a sudden I see (2) carp over 40". The point is, no matter how well you know an area or how much you fish it, there are still secrets hidden under the surface

btw likaboss, state record bullhead is under 5 pounds ;) nice catch

Sure it was a bullhead? Ive pulled many a small channel cat out that size in the quinebaug, good fishing there.....just watch the eels

Ive heard a few weeks months ago that they released a bunch of big channel cats and sunfish in a near by lake so I wouldnt be surprised it the catfish I saw was from that lake.

Those eels are why I perch on the rock instead of just wading in the water like normal. The day I was swimming looking for drift wood I had 2 stuck to my chest.
