Hi! I was doing my rutine check in my filter sun sun. I met a malicious failure. Two Nylon yarns sticked with sylicon, i think that the pump’s heat produces a slow melt silycon down. Finally, the yarns projected out and facilitated to roll up with impeler. And then produce a disaster. To avoid a unsuccesful hobby, I prefer to share this information, that’s are all. I cut the yarns to avoid problems in the future. I don’t recomember any SUN SUN filters, unless you want to lose your money.

That's odd, I've not heard of the 304-A. I have a 303B and many have the 304B. They have become pretty popular for cheap canister filters that hold a lot of media.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue.

It is the same as the 304b without the UV lamp. They are not common in the US but I found a couple on ebay when I was looking at the Sun Sun filters. I have not ordered one yet, so I have no idea of what I am looking at in the picture. Yarn and silicone in the impeller housing?

I've got two aquatop cf500uv, love the price, gph and amount of media it holds! It can hold more than my fx6! They look pretty well built, we shall see how the work

I don't think that's factory installed yarn. I've had my 304 apart to strip out the entire uv system and never came across anything like that.

I have the european version of these, sold by All Pond Solutions, running for 5-6 years and still counting. It seems you got yourself a fake :) or someone modified/repaired a fault. Did you get it from a retailer, or from a personal user online somewhere?

Thats NOT factory. I've purchased 2-304-B's and 1-404B and no such thing was in any of mine.

Sounds like you got something USED and/or defective. I vote a returned defective canister that someone had some sort of FLOSS at the TOP basket which got sucked into the impeller, or did you put floss or something in the top basket that came apart?

You should always use one of the course blue sponges right befor the impeller in the final top basket (water flows bottom to top) to prevent any media from entering the impeller chamber.

I used to make fun of Sun Suns. A good friend picked one up sarcastically a few years ago and, to my surpise, is working well a couple years later. I think yours is either a fugazi or someone messed with it along the line (assuming you bought it used)
