Last week's "Biggest Jack Dempsey Thread" was a great idea. Let's keep it going with the underrated, yet majestic Convict Cichlid. Post a pic of the biggest male Con that you own, or have owned in the past. I'll start: Here is my old guy "Buck". I no longer have him, but when I took this shot he was around 4 years old and 6" (1.5" thick). Would kill anything I put in his solo 55G (including females after they spawned).

Agree. Unfortunately, you don't see a lot of old/big Cons. Most people get rid of them long before they ever get the chance to mature and/or fill out.
 
I do have a single con at the time... 2-3" only, well may I ask are they slow growers? Or they spurt growth? Seems mine is kinda slowish, or dunno stunted maybe? I've had him with a partner, then he killed off his partner after some spawning...

Cons to me are somewhat slow growing. And some correct me if I'm wrong but I read in some ancient thread that when cichlids are allowed to breed at small size it slows there growth because they divert bodily resources to towards breeding instead of growth. Once again somebody correct me if I'm wrong

Oh really, well my bad ass convict was the former resident of my hospital/quarantine 5gallon tank. It's because I really was mad at him at that time, now I dump him with the bichirs, I planned to starve my bichirs and let the convict be the snack, and the heck with the con, he's the king of the 25g growout tank now with the bichirs... My con didn't even fertilize the egg before he killed off his partner, that was the first spawning they've done.

Lol u get mad at him, then feed him to your bichirs. Why? Because you can! Lmao
My biggest con I have is a male that is like 4" maybe. He has a nuchal hump slightly.

Here is an older pic of him. That was a while ago. I cant even get a picture of him now, he is always in this one cave in the tank and when I try to move it he bites me every time.
