Yes, It was wild cought from Brazil, but I since broke up the shoal. The Red was picking on the Piraya, so I just split them all up. You can find a price list under the P.A.E.X. forum under Massive Aggression. And the other fish that looks like a Cariba is a P.Notatus, very similar in appearence kinda like the cousin of the Cariba, but the P.Notatus is from Brazil to where the Cariba is from Venezuela.

The pics in post 6, are they suppose to be the notatus or the red cause it sure looks like a Caribe to me! I mean it has a very prominent humeral spot along with the flat bulldog face all characteristic of P. Caribe.

Oh and last I heard notatus isnt a vailid name any more!

Seeing on how Cariba come from Venezuela Only, This fish would be a Notatus on the fact that this fish came from Brazil, unless I have the brought the first Brazilian Cariba into the States. If that is so, you better buy this one while it's still at the price listed. And if Notatus is an invalid name, then what do they call this type of fish now?

If you want to buy it you can call it whatever you want, but for now its a Notatus.

I am sure that the fish is indeed from brazil. Shipping fish multiple times (ven. -> Braz -> US) is not all to common, and then it would almost surely be accompanied by a bill of lading stating the fishes orgin

If this fish came from Brazil it was brought there by your supplier, end of story.

Pygocentrus notatus is now just a synonym of Pygocentrus cariba as is Pygocentrus stigmaterythraeus, Serrasalmo cariba, Serrasalmus cariba and Serrasalmus notatus. So if you still try to sell it as notatus you might as well sell it as the super rare Pygocentrus stigmaterythraeus, just like my ultra rare Rooseveltiella nattereri. Not making fun of you or anything, synonyms can be a ***** espeically if your going by old books etc. But your fish is P. cariba that was moved to your suppliers location, thats all.

definetly a red look at the eyes thats a dead give away
