Biggest Ropefish

Are you guys feeding live or will your rope take pellets / raw fish? I had one years ago that ate pellets. I bought one a week ago that does not appear to have any interest in anything I have tried. Granted he could be eating at night. I dropped a worm right by his head and he showed no interest. He's 11".

My ropefish is actually the oldest fish I own close to 7 years now. It's maybe grown a 1" in that time it might be 11" if I'm lucky. Eats anything thou but, never thickens up like the ones I see around here.

Mine werent eating for a while, but now they snarl down shrimp, no interest in pellets, im going to have to try some new fish later this week.

Perhaps the average length would be much higher if they werent all so damned proficient at committing suicide.

My rope, Fibonacci, was almost 13" when he decided to jump. The tank was as secure as any out there. He actually survived the first (and subsequent) jump. Poor kid-o was barely moving at all when I replaced him. I lowered the water level to 60% and put a net over the small opening in front of the filter. The next morning he was on the floor again. That time, I lowered the water level still further and treated the tank. He seemed very out of it at that point.

The third jump did it. My cats were all gathered around him when I woke up. They love watching the fish, him and the polys in particular--I was shocked that they didnt want to touch/play with/eat him. He was completely dried out after round three. Would love to own another, but me and the girlfriend were quite upset when we lost him :/

I love rope fish there one of my favorites. Biggest one I ever seen was maybe 13-14" but the LFS owner told me he knows someone in my area that does have 2 foot one. I think its all about offering the right food.

The largest rope I have is an 18 inch, 6+ year old female. I got her at 8 inches. She was WC.
