Cichla should all be around the same size of one another. IMO it's a recipe for disaster otherwise. Cichla will kill 99% of most smaller bass that are introduced into the tank. The only way adding a new bass works is if they are bigger but then that fish usually becomes the aggressor. If you plan on adding another bass to the group don't go any larger than an inch or so and don't add any fish smaller.

I didnt say anything about adding smaller bass.....if you add diff bass at the same size they will have diff growth rates reguardless.... i was asking who is having success with a gap in size.

Even then people have had luck intoducing smaller bass.... you may have a better chance if they are around the same size but adding a smaller size bass isnt exactly asking for disaster. Always best to add in groups anyways and add when doing a water change and rearranging the tank to restablish territory.

You may want to be more specific then. Seems like you already know all the answers. Good luck pal

Jist going off others and my experiences....... i wasnt exactly asking the question to get specific info on how to comm diff sizes cichla but was just curious as to the diff in size of pbass some of u guys are rocking

I only know this working in really large tanks, where all bass are well fed. But never seen anything more than a 4" disparity and that was a 12" kelberi (3) with a 16" azul

I added a little 7" orino to my group of 12-18". The orino got busted up after 4months. Which is weird. Added few other no issues. I guess they don't like orinos
