biggest tank I can fit...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, that's up to your house. If you have the 8x8 cross beams, yes. But if your house is really old I wouldn't suggest it. I have my 55 gal going in my basement just to be on the safe side. But you can see if you can get blue prints of your house and see what kind of support system you have, but most likely you'll be good to go. just make sure it's on/over a support beam.

That depends on your second floor. If you seriously lack the discretionary capacity to avoid asking a question like this, then you NEED to have an inspector come look at it. Don't trust your own judgement. Or anybody who has not seen the floor for themselves. There are too many factors involved.

Without details I would not go past a 55 gallon as that could weigh up to and go over 500lbs.

An easy 'tape measure' is to find some big friends (over 200lbs each). Put 2 or 3 of them together where you want the tank (make them sign a disclosure that they won't sue).

Seriously, a 500lbs tank would put continued pressure vs a 2 minute get together. so it's not a true and tested method.

Yeah, but also, if your floor cant hold two 200lb friends, you have other problems to worry about before a fish tank:nilly:

I think people vastly underestimate the strength of floors. I have had a 125 and a 220 in two different homes with no reinforcement and have had no ill affects. But hey maybe im just lucky so far

1000 gallons....let us know how it goes...

PS joking, don't try this at home...
