Biggest TEXAS cichlid EVER....!??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No one can come out and say "this and that" because no one can possibly know. You can just tell it's some sort of mix... After that it's just a guess. Like going to the animal shelter and trying to figure out what mix of breeds the dogs are.

I agree it defo looks like a hybrid and not a pure Texas, and also agree with aclockworkorange theres no way anyone can 100% guarantee what its been crossed with.

All that aside it defo looks rather large.

Thanks Darren.

James' is only 10" he said. Plenty larger than that. If you want to see a beast of a 12" "Escondido" look up DarthV's. Armac had a huge cyano/carpintis mix too. And I've seen photos of plenty of cyanos caught in texas over 12". I agree that the fish posted does not look like a pure texas as well.

I said that I have seen. ;)

Sorry...my fish is more than 17'' (40cm)...

If that was the case, then the palm of your hand that you held up would be nearly nine inches across. That would make YOU one of the largest of your kind. It's a big fish...but you need a better ruler.

The biggest I ever had was an Escondido that was close to 13".

It looks like a Texas/Amphilophus sp.? hybrid, almost Trimacish looking in the face. Who knows for sure what's in it but doesn't look pure. I think the size estamation is off too.
