Im considering a monster tank and i want to know what the 5 biggest species of bichir are in order with their sizes posted. Thanks

-Polypterus endlicheri congincus 39"+
-Polypterus ansorgii 38"+
-Polypterus bichir bichir 36"+
-Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri 32"+
-Polypterus bichir lapradei 30"+

Don't forget that they won't get up to this size in aquaria even with larger tank. Most of them will barely get up to 30" and mostly likely 20-25"+. Also size can varied depend on the species regional variant or genes if it's a captive breed.

Couldn't let that one pass

Thanks guys. Im thining of keepeing some of those large bichirs with rays and high-strung species like dorado, gatf, armatus. Do u think these combinations would work?

I think maybe becuz bivhirs are soo chill and pretty much dont mess with other fish and dont get beaten up.

Just make sure they are well feed. As they are not the same "soo chill" during lights off. They are capable of doing death rolls and with 20" bichirs can easily take down any unsuspecting large fish during lights off if they are hungry. Cichlids and schooling characids and cyprinids usually fall victim to bichirs. They don't like any twitchy movement or any skittishness fish.

black arowana, arapaima, basically anything wide bodied fish that is similar to their size as well. also lungfish would be a good choice.
