biggets plywood tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The problem is coming up with a leakproof method of going over the dimensions of a standard 8x4 sheet of plywood. My biggest ply-tank was a 900gal (8'x4'x45"). I'm going to try a 120" x 36" x 20" tank by building, basically, 2 separate 5ft tanks with a frame cut in the side of each tank as if I were going to install a glass viewing window in them. But, with a good amount of resin and fiberglass cloth, I'm hoping for a good seal to make 2 tanks into one 10ft x 3ft tank with a 2" ridge around the center of the tank.

mine is aprox. 8x3x3 (outside). There are some pix in my gallery, but I'll try to get some better ones.

I'd imagine that the sky is the limit with plywood, the trick would be to re-enforce it the right way. Glueing peices of 1/2 or 3/4 inch plywood offcentered for a net 1inch-1.5ich would be the way I would go if over 8 feet. And from then on put re-enforcment bars to keep it from eventually bowing.

If you're going that long, I'd look into adding steel angle along the top and bottom to prevent bowing. 3/4" ply may not be good enough alone.

Your nasty
