I use matrix all the way. I use about 40L via a total of eight filters. Can't say enough about it.
 
bio bale rocks. i have a big wad of it in the eheim 2250. its cheap, effective, and never need to be replaced. it pwns!

I was searching for replacing bioballs in my wet/dry sump with Matrix and found this thread.

From what I read, Matrix is better and I can start by removing the balls, put matrix in, and put the balls back on top and then every week remove a few more bioballs until they are all gone.

My system is a 150 Gallon Fish Only and I have not live rock, just the bioballs in the wet/dry sump.

Any comments on this is appreciated.

I am looking to change due to constant nitrates of around 40 to 50 ppm.
