Bio balls or Bio rings?

fluval bio-max has more surface area then bio-balls, im assuming thats the kind of bio-rings your talking about

Mixture of BOTH is best IMHO. Various types of bacteria grow on various types of surfaces.

well im not sure what type yet i just wanted some opinions i was thinkn about a mixture as gr8karma stated but im not sure so i want 2 hear every1s thoughts on it thanx 4 all input

ceramic bio has more surface area but will clog easily if the mechanical filtration is not good. IMO if its a canister do ceramic bio-media. And if its a sump do scrubbies in the bio chamber, ceramic bio under the bio chamber and in between the baffles and bio-balls in the pump chamber floating. So all 3. And yes my sump is busy and gets down.
