I have build my sump for my new 210gal Salt water with just fish. Would Live rock be better than bio balls in the sump?

Thanks

Had the sump built, nothing special though few chambers for the rocks.

I generally kept most of it all under water, at times I did have a pile of it out of the normal water level to quiet down the spashing. I would assume that you can do both with good results.

LR for sho..... BB tend to clog or become nitrate traps...

if you clean say a third of them every 3-4 months, they MAY be ok..... but i'd just pony up for the LR..

a deep sand bed is also a good thing to have in your sump... 3-6''

do a trickle tower of bio balls and submerge the lava rock...

trickle towers are TOO good, they'll end up being nitrate factories... you'll need some anaerobic area if you want to keep tartes down... A.K.A. deep sand bed...

What's the difference of keeping the sand in the sump over the main tank. I'll have live sand in the main tank with live rock. Also a protein skimmer in the sump.

Thanks
