1lb of live rock per gallon of tank will insure you have plenty of bio. You can also use live sand to speed things along. If you have access to a batch of completely cured rock and live sand, you can have a fotwlr up and running in a little over a week. With the use of live materials you only need to give the tank time to absorb a little initial die off of the live rock and get the dissolved oxygen level up.
