bio filter media. i dont want to use scrubbies!

Well all the Lowes in my area has had a ton of pond stuff on a pretty ridiculous clearance. No idea if it is in other areas. I got 12 packs of bioballs for between $1 and $3 each pack (all the stores seemed to have a different price). I considered that a cheap price, but I think if they not on clearance where you are they are like $14 a pack or something like that.

Another reason to not use scrubbies is that they aren't that effective when compared to good bio media.

Don't try to be cheap and just go get some sintered glass or porous ceramic based media from a petstore. It may way more expensive ounce per ounce when compared to things like bioballs and scrubbies, but when you consider a couple cupfuls of sintered glass has more surface area than a truckload of scrubbies it kind of puts price into perspective.

BTW, I wasn't trying to call you cheap.

What type filter are you putting this media in?

im diying it...i want to build it around the media...if i bought a couple ac110's and filled with this media cass mentioned, would that work? or do i need more?

Actually the biomax that comes with the AC110s has a greater surface area then the ehfisubstrate in the link above. There will be room for twice as much biomax then what comes with the ACs. You will want to keep the sponges in the ACs and clean them frequently. It is important to keep you biomedia clean, if it gets gunk into the pores it will be less effective.

You will need more then a couple of AC110s to filter a 135g, of course this is depending on stock.
