Whats the max if there is already a 9" oscar, firemouth, 2 danios and 2 farlowella's in the tank? Any suggestions on low impact additions?

I'd say you could fit another small Cichlid in there, anything around the Firemouth size range such as Convicts, Acara's, maybe a Salvini. What's your Oscar like temperament wise? If it's a big docile Oscar I'd aim for getting another docile fish.

My oscar is VERY docile. I will be trying to post pictures as soon as I can but he will let a 2" firemouth within an inch of his own face while feeding. The firemouth acts as the "custodian" in my tank for extra food that flies out of the O's gills.

I was thinking convict myself but was hoping for some "rare flair" ideas - and not sure about the bio load - still kind of new to aquariums larger than 29g and also to cichlids in general.

Also - if another small cichlid, then more filtration? Using Aquaclear 110...

Docile fish cichlid? Can't go wrong with a Herotilapia Multispinosa! Great looking and fairly docile.

Here's mine.

USB needed for camera (photos to post tomorrow) but tried to take pictures and found out an interesting neurosis on the part of my oscar - camera shy.

Anytime you look into my tank the oscar is in plain view. Sometimes swimming, sometimes just floating in the center in the filter current, but always in sight and investigative and curious to whatever comes up to the tank. If I shake his red or green bag of Hikari food in front of the glass he is trying to swim through the side of the glass to get the bag. Tonight though, as soon as I brought up the digital camera to take some pictures, he would go and hide in the corner or try to escape through the bubble feeders. The whole "photo shoot" took about 10 minutes as I teased it out of the corner to get some sort of shot - only for it to retreat as soon as the camera came up. He didn't even eat afterwards...that has never happened - it has never refused food. :screwy:

That is a sweet fish. Do you order these through specialty distributors or do you have them down at your local FS?

i agree with severum

I have a salvini but she is the king of my tank. She even scares my male jag away and she's less than half his size. He is around 6 or so inches. She is maybe 3. Oscar is about 9 inches and no problems at all. Right now I have 2 emperor 400s, but I think I am going to get rid of one and add a Fluval 405 canister, but the water is clear now, (it used to be a bit dirty when I just had one emperor 400).

Other then severum, maybe a JD or a Nicaraguense, those two worked really well in my 75, but one that definitely didn't was CONVICT. Male convict, in a 29 gallon for life, prison for ripping scales off my sunshine oscar. Don't get a con they are intolerant and biters and want to boss around docile fish.

Well I got some picks of the o - but like i said, he became camera shy. These were the best shots I could get. The first one was just as he saw the camera - and the rest after he was cowering in the corner. weird.
