Bio-load and 75 gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you!

Is there anyone on the "con" side? As in "what you have already is at the max for tank size" camp?

I have a fresh shipment of SA/CA cichlids at the LFS and this is my tank...

I would stay away from salvini. They are monsters! You could get away with adding a green terror, jack dempsey, or something similar to the tank.

Gt's and Jd's are bigger than sals......And more aggro.....

i wouldnt add anything else to that tank

I originally figured that the danios would be short term additions to the 75 - but they have had a long life and the 75g seems to have perked them up past even old for danios (5+ years) and still going strong. Still they cannot live forever.

The o is going to be huge I know, but I have seen stocking lists that suggest 2 o's for a 75 gallon. Takes a lot of work but I am consistant with 30-60% weekly water changes, sometimes more.

with two os in a tank that size you would need ro go a water change 3 times a week

That is a sweet fish. Do you order these through specialty distributors or do you have them down at your local FS?

doh haven't gotten a chance to see this board lately.

Got it at a lfs, but i've seen them fairly often at the lfs around here. I just haven't seen them at chains.

Well thanks for the input all. Still not sure if I am going to add anything or not. If I do I might wait until the danios finally kick the bucket. Until then I am eyeing my empty 29 gallon with glee at the possibilities of smaller cichlids and the chance to breed them for store credit and/or another source of fresh food for the bigger tank.

Have a good Xmas and New Year all!
