Do you know what size they are, I just checked amazon for prices and they have different sizes.

Submersible media has a lot more surface area than bio balls. I'm using 20L of Seachem pond matrix in my 240 which is equivalent to 3,400L of bio balls

As a former microbiologist, I find the bio media mystery a bit strange.
In the end everything in your tank becomes a surface for biofilm, the sides, the rocks, anything in the water.
For filtration the more surface area the better, but saying a piece of lava rock, or old toothbrush is less efficient than a bio-ball falls a bit out of reality to me.
I use cheap lava rock from the garden center, and have for decades.

And the mystery continues, lol. I'm using an old 55 gal to make my filter just want to make sure I rig it up right and also if anyone has any input and what kind of GPH flow I need for this set up too. I should mention that the wet dry is going to be used in combination with an fx5 I recently purchased as well.
