well is pot scrubbies better or worse than cheap bio rings or would the bio rings win

I say pot scrubbers are better, 100% nylon and lasts longer.
I'm sure the bio rings will dissipate as the years come along.
Its up to you.

Pretty sure that ceramic stuff has more surface area than pot scrubbies...

For a canister filter I would go with ceramic rings. Cheep or not they will provide more surface area than the scrubs. You can get more in and will not compact.
Now for a wet dry, this might be a different story. But your talking about canister.

cichlid2006 got a link to that cheap stuff being sold online

its not online mate. its at my lfs called walsoken aquatics and the stuff come in a new media tray (i dont use the tray), i think there are different sized trays if ive remembered correctly but i use the large one so i havent really paid any notice to the other ones.
im sure if you look on ebay and have a good root around the net you should be able to find some, if an lfs can do it that cheap with their overheads then surely an internet shop can.

Google up Azoo Bioglass, it is about $25.00 for 3 liters. Good price and I can tell you it works great.
