Bio over load problem?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my bad, tried to figure out pictures, and finally got it. I think the problem has to do with my tap water casue when i add water from the Python back to the tank, it comes out looking real cloudy and results in the top of the tank looking like this. Any suggestions?

What kind of dechlor are you using ? Do you gravel vac ? Any parameters yeT? Doesn't look overstocked from those pics....

Some tap water mine included usually looks cloudy for an hour or so just microbubbles. Just a thought.

Try letting the tap run for a minute or 2 before you hook up the Python. If its limescale in the pipes flaking off, that should blow the particles out. You could also try aging your water for a few days before a WC in a bucket/barrel with an airstone. That helped with the cloudiness I had in my office tank, but that was a hard water/microbubble issue & I was SURE nothing else was going on...

Do you have any surface agitation? Adding a hang on the back filter or redirecting your filter outputs might make a pretty big difference.

I get that too so this is what I do.. I usually filled a big water container that I use for water change with tap water, treat it with some water conditioner. Let the tap water sit for like 15 to 20 minutes before putting in your tank. There is white particle that float in the tap water and you just have to let it sit so all the particle will float to the bottom.... or you can also us a RO system..

you still have the problem of no bio filter.... check out my magnum 350

That is 100% GIGGITY! I love improving on crappy filter designs. Makes you wonder how Marineland ever let such a glaring design fault go to market...

haha yea i wonder alot of things about filters these days. I find myself thinking , why the heck wouldnt you just make this an easier connection. Why isnt there a cut off valve!? Why is this even here it just screams im going to break and leak!! lol but i must say this filter with the micron cleans tanks up better than any filter i have. I just use it for quick jobs but my tanks are all so over filtered i just made this and hooked it up to my 55. it has a pvc in the middle with little holes drilled so it draws water through all that bio media :headbang2
