Stagger stack them if possible (each half over the other) otherwise just watch for water channeling.

The last variable being: do you have enough holes in the top of your set-up to accomodate the rated flow of what-ever pum you decide to use?
You may find that
A: your pump will become starved for water.......need more holes.
B: your pump moves too little water and only 1/3 - 2/3 of the current holes receive water.
C: your plumbing may need to be altered in order to prevent water from the tank splashing about and wrecking everthing nearby. You may want to consider some sort of shroud to prevent this.
