Bioload exceeded?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have two red sea canisters that i plan to fill with bio media. would that be sufficent?
would it be more cost effective to put together a homemade bioreactor setup?

That's what I prefer..... But then again I prefer gravity fed filtration as opposed to pump fed, so if it's pump fed I'd redo the whole thing, but that's just me... lol.

I assume there's an auxiliary pump running the UV and not the whole 4.5K GPH going through there? Might be a good place to stick a reactor......

There's lots of threads on DIY reactors on here. I prefer to make them out of old acrylic tanks for a few reasons but most just use a drum, bucket, or barrel. I'm strict on using K1 Brand and their bio chips, but lots here have had good luck with other K1 knock offs, or just K1 without the chips.

We all know there's lots of different ways to achieve the same outcome. Seems reactors are a great subject to see all the colors, as everyone has different thoughts on how to boil what in what with whatever.......
