Biological filter media?

Biomax here as well.
Both of my XP2's have the upper trays filled with 2 bags designed for AC110's.

I would fill the 2nd tray on your XP2 with either fluval biomax or seachem matrix. It should be around $10 at your local LFS.

Anyone have experience with Seachem's Matrix?

It's unlike any other medias, and claims to have a large amount of surface area in comparison to other medias..

Thoughts?

I really like Seachem's products.

I use some Matrix(most all my canisters are now a mix of matrix, ehfisub and biomax) I am not sure if it is better or not, although Seachem does claim that the pores are small enough to support anaerobic bacteria, which can reduce nitrates.

I posted on this awhile back Seachem Matrix claims to reduce nitrates

Some here would disagree. Oddball knows how to figure out the formula for surface area in biomedia, and he recommends scrubbie pads.

Just make sure you don't use metal scrubbie pads! Especially copper, DUH!
