So I have been looking to separate my biological filtration from my mechanical (I have an ac 70 with biomax and foam) I want to be able to clean the sponges out in my sink without having to partially rely on the sponges for biological filtration.

So my budget is $45 dollars and I was just thinking of getting another ac 70 and filling it with bio max and having the other one filled with foam.

Another idea I had was to get a fluval c4 because it has a wet dry bio drip plate that drips onto the bio media. And I would fill the chemical media basket with bio media. And taking out the mechanical cartrage and putting biomax in that. What would you guys do?

I'd run both 70s with biomax and sponge.

I want to get the c4 but only if there is a way to put bio media in the mechanical media spot. Can anybody that has the c4 tell me?

Aqua CVlear are more used for mechanical filtration............Maybe purchasing a canister filter will bring you hopes..The FLUVAL stands strong amongst the canister filters.....i have been using the FLUVAL canister filter since the 1980's............................................Building a wet/dry filtersaves you money and adds a lot of biological and chemical filtration..................
