biomax - approx weight to volume?

Seachem matrix and ehfisubstrat are sold by the liter, so it's easy to tell how much I would need. I'm thinking of going with hagen biomax for the cost to surface are ratio, but unfortunately it's sold by weight so I have no idea what that amounts to.

Any idea what the approximate volume of a 500g box of biomax is? How much would I need to fill an 8"X8"X2" basket?
 
I would really like to know this, too. I'm trying to figure out if eheim or biomax is more cost-effective.

Measure the dimensions of the box and calculate the volume. It might not be completely full, but it will put you in the ballpark.

IC. well, I'd rather have something that flows through better like the biomax so the other two I posted may be better anyway. I've heard of problems of ehfisubstrat cloggin in FX5's and that's very similar.

huh...never saw that and I looked pretty good, too. Well, I ordered 5 boxes of Fluval biomax last night, so that should be good, then.
 
Each basket in the FX5 took 2 1/2 boxes of 500g of Fluval BioMax
 
just buy eheim substrate pro.... alot better...
