anyone know if they can be used in freshwater or are they just used in salt where you also have to have a skimmer I am curious to try in my phosban rea ctor by sprung. 180 mixed community tank.

I am speaking of Biopellets Not purigen but thanks for the input!

I'm talking about this http://www.marinedepot.com/NP_Biope...r_Media-NP_Biopellets-XB1113-FIFMCHNR-vi.html

Sounds like they work well, just need to figure out a good reactor to run them in. Also I saw that on saltwater tanks they say to run the outflow into a skimmer to help clean up the 'bio film' that can come out. Just wondering how this would work on freshwater.

Bio media isn't a problem, but if this could lower nitrates it would be awesome!
