bird bath heater

Has anyone ever used a birdbath heater? I want to get one but curious if they work. How much do they cost to operate?

What is your application with this heater?

to keep the water in the birdbath from freezing, lately I just dump out the water in the evening and fill it back up in the morning

I can honestly say I have never used one but after a google search can see why you would want one and not an aquarium heater. Hope someone else chimes in here
