Birding!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool! Our first Robins of the year appeared yesterday, about a half dozen of them. A few warm days had exposed patches of grass here and there and they were hopping and bopping around looking for food. I put out a small dish of raisins that were greatly appreciated.

The fruit was even more appreciated this morning after we got a couple inches of snow last night here as well. All white again. The Robins look good, though, and we also have a couple hundred Juncos that have poured in over the past few days as well. They're seed eaters so they have lots of food at our feeders.

Our rare Slaty-backed Gull was seen by multiple observers on Apr8 and also Apr10. I was there on Apr9. :( No further reports of it, but I'm watching the bird alerts like a...well, like a hawk! :) I will head back into town if it is turned up again, but I fear it has moved on to greener pastures, or at least less-white ones.

We had our first robins in the yard March 2nd I believe, which was a tad early considering where we live. lol
