Hi i have 2 heaters for my 1,000L tank in my sump. Currently they are both on 1 birdlink should they have their own?

Cheers

You can absolutely run two heaters on one Inkbird controller as long you ensure the combined wattage doesn't exceed the controller's rating.

I will also add what I've found is that the controller is either on or off which means both heaters turn off together and vice versa both on. On a my larger tanks sumps I run a second controller.

You could simulate independent controllers with one Inkbird by setting one heater above the setting of your Inkbird controller and the second heater a degree or two below the setpoint. That way when your controller turns on, the heater set above the setpoint will come on immediately and stay on until the setpoint is reached, if the first heater isn't able to raise the temperature to setpoint and the temperature continues to drop below the controller setpoint, the second heater will come on and assist. Not perfect, but does ramp up the heater wattage only when needed.

Controller setpoint - 76 deg. F
Heater One - 80 deg. F (will come on whenever the controller calls for heat)
Heater Two - 74 deg. F (will come on only when temperature falls 2 deg. F below setpoint)

To work properly, you would need to make sure both heaters and the controller read the same temperature and calibrate or adjust settings as needed.

I was thinking more if the linkbird thermostat failed and continuously kept heating the tank if they were on separate ones, as titanium heaters don't have any controls on them.
