Hi all, at long last i can start on the new yank, i am upgrading from a 550l ( 120G ) cube tank to a 1700l (370G) 9lx3dx2+h., i am in the UK so both volumes are given to make it easier.
Now i have read for some years on DIY plywood tanks and my choice is to go with 18mm ( 3/4 ) plywood and GRP, this being double base and back due to the lentgh of standard sheet, mite get 10`x5` sheets yet and go single back and side in 18mm ( 3/4 ). There will no extra supports/battens around the tank as i will be using a good lamination of GRP as below.
The sheets will be screwed all around together at 75mm ( 3` ) spacing glued with Cascamite, not sure if many have heard of it but it is an excellent water based adhesive which come as a dry powder then you mix to the correct viscosity you need. good for laminating.
The tank will be lined with GRP at a thickness of 6mm using two laminations of 650grm ( 1.4lds ) CSM / Combination. Not sure yet but mite then use a G4 pond seal.
Glass will be used, 15mm thick with a good 25mm thick pine frame.
It will have a top inner frame to stop top bowing of the tank, be best if i do a sketch if can find my sketch up program.

So any thought on the construction please.

Wayne :)

So I just watched all 6 video's on that DIY plywood and I am soooo mad about the wet/dry filter. I just designed my own wet/dry and his is significantly better, Ugh! I wish i would have known about this video series earlier so that I wouldnt have made such dumb mistakes.
