I think there is cheaper "reticulated foam" than poret brand? I was told I could get generic cheaper but had already bought a bunch of sheets of the 4" thick various ppi density from poret. May be worth looking into as Swiss tropicals (main source) isn't exactly cheap. Then I cut oversized on the ban saw a large circular cutout, stuff her in the 55 gallon barrel very snug, and it's a layer of mechanical and biological in the barrel. Cut it to fit whatever application you need.

well my male has been attacking her again today whilst at work and she's even worse now

I've now separated but taken male out and into the naughty section as didn't want to leave the new BD's with him in fear of what may happen. So female is with smaller rays in the big part of tank.

going to keep separated until she heals and hopefully by then will be able to tell whether the mating was a success or not.

I think that's the right decision. She should heal up from the damage just fine.

Poret is a one time buy for what it's worth. Very durable stuff IME.

Agreed, I've been pounding it with a pressure washer for years and it still hasn't broken down much at all.
