Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the above problem. For the past month or so now, black algae has started spreading across my bogwood and plants in the tank...

I made a video and uploaded it to YouTube:

(My tank is not that densely planted, it is just a pretty close take of a video!)

Can anyone offer any help on treating/removing it? From what I understand, it can be a real pain to get rid of!

I have run through all the standard water tests, and everything has returned fine. If you would like any further info on my tank, let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys :)

i wouldnt have noticed the algae at all had you not mentioned it. I only saw it on one plant, i usually just trim it or wipe it off with my hand.

It is definitely noticeable on the tank (on the wood, plants etc)

the iPhone didn't do a great job of picking the majority of it up though

There we go, a better pic.

You can see it on the bogwood now, and on some of the plants surrounding it

I've heard about the Excel stuff. Although I have heard mixed reviews....?

I take it having a carbon filter in at present isn't helping matters?

Thanks for the replies so far guys, been away for the weekend, otherwise I would have responded sooner!

My bulbs are changed once a year, and these ones were fresh as of August.
