How fast can they grow from 10" to 18" ish or so ?

I just got a new black aro from Alex at Fish Room Plus. He's about 10" and kinda skinny. Putting him in my tank makes me so nervous with the TSN. I am thinking on putting him in a 20 L tank and do 1-2 WC per week and do a fattening regimen on him with stix, massivore, MP, Krill, Beef heart and Bloowdworms..

How long would you think it will take for him to grow an additional 6-8" ?

thanks

My black took a bit over a year to go from 10-18", but I've seen others who say 1-2" per month like a silver.

I got my black at 11" at the end of March. In 9 months she has only grown 4 inches and is now 15". As far as keeping your black in a 20g long, I can't see how that could be very healthy for the fish. In a tank that small the aro will likely be easily spooked and end up doing alot of bashing into tops and sides.

If your aro looks like he could fit in your tsn mouth it may end up there .I would say get the cat out, the tsn will always grow faster than your aro .Whats more important to you a $20 tsn that will outgrow your tank, unless you have a pond or a $200 aro.

I ran into the same situation with my new 11" black. I put it in my 135g with my 10" odoe. They got along fine, but I figured why risk it with such a beautiful fish and way more expensive fish , and gave the odoe to my buddy. If you're worried about the tsn you should move it

I am contemplating on the 20 gallon deal...I am goin to set it up anyway for emergency. I have been watching the black aro in the tank, so far so good. I have been feeding the living crap out of the other fish so that they don't bother him.

My last fei feng at 5" were picked on the moment in enter the tank. Within 24 hours he was eaten by the TSN. The aro seems to be in the world of his own and no other fish is bothering him including the TSN. I am sure it'll be okay... He has the length, but being so skinny bothers me..

I'll keep an eye, when in doubt, I'll put him in the 20 for temporarily until I get a 75 or 55 setup for him. I chose the 20 since doing 10 Gallon WC twice a week is easier than 25-35 gallon per WC

How big is the tank you have the tsn and aro in, a 75 or a 55 will only be ok for a short time .If you do cycle and set up a 20g that's way to small stress kills but so do tsn at night wen you sleep.:WHOA:think
