Around how long will it take a black arowana to go from 4" to 24"? Will they get any bigger than 24" after a long time?

My black Aro has grown less than an inch a month. He is probably just now around 16" and a year ago when we got him he was in the 9" range. He's growing much slower than my silver. The biggest I've seen is probably 30" at the shedd aquarium, which was in a massive tank with a silver that was well over 3 feet.

They are noticeably slower growers. I find that mine also eat less than silvers ( perhaps both things are linked )

they grow a lot slower than i thought, its gonna take a while to grow one out before i can put one in with my o's.

You sure about wanting to risk a Black with oscars?

Would they hurt it? What if i put the black in once it was 12"+? would it help if i had a 31" tall tank to give the aro more room?

I wouldnt put an aro under 16" with any oscar.

Agree with the principle. I go beyond that, I don't mix them pure and simple in the same tank.

If we're talking mega tanks or pools or ponds, then ok, I can accept the risk.

Oscars... with arowos? No way... dont care how big the arowo is... oscars are a no no with just about any fish.. they kill their own... dirty critters... sorry had to rant cause I had one a while back... and gave it back to LFS.. never ever again...
