Black Aro moved to larger growout; video

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks good... the six arowana look great. Noticed alot of current keeps the aros busy. This help in keeping them from fighting? Do you even see any signs of fighting from them?

Thanks for the comments all.

nice fish's! i really like the ATF :D
His name is Godric and one of my favorite fish. I had bought 4 ATF's lasty year. Lost 2 goliaths from the shipment, and Godric murdered the largest shipment survivor. Now its just him. and surprisingly Godric does not Murdered more fish. The only fish he chases is the archer fish and is now on Massivore mostly and shrimp sometimes. For a carnivore, he is one picky fish.

Love the collection, fish, music, set up, and video. Great job!
Thanks brother this means a lot to me. I always like layering my aquariums as a kid. Before I set up this aquarium I had a layered plan and the aro's were last. But ofcourse plans always change. I am growing other monsters for the future mother ship I am saving for.

Way to go!! Now get them big and enjoy!
Miguel is the MAN that gave me the courage to drop these fish in yesterday. I was going to wait a little bit longer but I was advised to do it asap or the Silver aro, Goliath would get too bold as he ruled this kindom. Thanks again Miguel. I had my eyes on your black community years ago and always wanted one of my own. I have loved arowana's for many years and It is such a great feeling to come home and watch these fish daily after a long day at work.

What is the name of the fish that look like archer fish? They are the smallest fish you have, they keep swimming back and forth. Thanks.
I believe you are talking about Microlepis and Undecimradiatus aka IT datnoids and NTT datnoids.

nice~ Now just need to grow them huge in there!!:headbang2
That is the plan my friend. Koji, I made a post years ago inquiring about an aro community and you sugguested a black community. It took many years of research for this plan to happen.

Beautiful tank. Nice to see they are getting along for you.
Thanks KNH, hows your aro community doing?

Nice tank/stock!

looks like there may be a bit too much of a top-current pushing those aros around a bit. I would lighten up on the bubbles.
Actually the top current is what is keeping them less aggressive. I got this tip from many hobbyist in Singapore that live and breath arowana's.

looks great bro, everyone is so active in there.
This has always been my goal to have an active tank from the top layer/mid/lower.

Nice production skills...

The 40second mark is pretty exciting with the speed of that red tail.

Aros are looking happy and those archers are a cool mix.

Thanks for sharing!
Godric lashes out like this everytime I clean the glass. Anyone can produce short vids with the right tools, thanks.

Nice Aros. An aro has always been on our want list, but finding it a place in our tanks has always been an issue before.
Thanks and I have heard that silvers can get up to 24 inches with in a year. Why not grow one out cause a year is like a blink of an eye after high school. Then I am sure your kitties will play nice since 24 inches is too much to swallow.

Thanks man. That is the idea I learned from an asian aro forum when I was poking around to see what was the key to a community success. There was definitely signs of fighting the first day I introduced then when they were separated for have them grow to be 8-9"ish eyeballed and reintroduced with super current in only half of a 6'er. After a few weeks I removed the divider and they seemed fine until I noticed one of the smaller blacks pushing everyone away from his territory which was the side with more current. It was almost like he wanted to work out to get bigger or stronger faster then the others.
After talking to Miguel, I introduced all 4 blacks to the larger grow out tank and saved the last transition for that smaller bully. Now in this tank I will keep an eye on all of them. There happens to be a lot of current in this tank. Two returns from each over flow off of a eheim 1262(light current but current non the less), 1x eheim 2260 with a spray bar on the right, and two powerheads. I am looking into one of those Hydro 8 evo powerheads. I think that should be plenty of wate current in all directions to keep them busy until I have some extra money for the Mothership.

your videos have become some of my favorites! it looks like Godric is digging the current alot as well- are you down to 1 paroon? I thought you had 3 or so- beautiful fish, community, setup, and production! great job like always, thanks for sharing! now you need to get cracking on your mothership- how big are you planning?

Thanks, my photography skills are like feeding gold fish to Arowanas so I will keep you guys posted with vids.
