Black Aro problem....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can always train your LIVE arow back onto prepared foods.. You cannot train any of your dead fish onto it.

I would also see your Parrots doing it long before the TSN .. But that is just me...

I don't mean get rid of him completely, how big is he? If he fits in the 20g then put him there not permanent but until the Black is able to hold his ground. If he can't try to find a place for him for a while, or get a tank divider for your aro. You can always DIY a divider oout of PVC and Egg Crates.

The TSN is about 14" long or so...

I can propably put him and the gar in the 75 tank for now...I was planning on putting the black aro there by himself.

Think about it, these things are happening over night, TSN is nocturnal like all catfish, get the picture? All the other fish are not nocturnal(gar is slightly but not really) If they were doing any damage you would see them. Get the TSN into your 75. Also just wondering why didn't you think about putting the aro in the 75? whats the stock in that tank?

I do agree with Tongue though on training them back to prepare foods so I guess It's worth a shot, be careful though he may never go back to sticks/pellets if you do it extensively.

Sorry for not being clear about th 75. The 75 is not running and empty, I can set it up right away with many sponge filters and bio balls from my 240 plus bio spira to get it running.

I know what my TSN does, he usually started swimming vertically against the glass to "hunt" onc I turn the lights off...

I always mix variety of diets with food. Krill, MP, Beef Heart, stix, massivore pellets, bloodworms, live blackworms, cricket and etc.

PS: I watched the recording from my camcorder last night and he was pretty much left alone all night. I'll try again this afternoon when I turn the light off

waiting to see him get beat down again is not the solution, treating his wounds now when they are minimal. Set up that 75, use all the used up media stuff, use about 50% or more water from your current 240g, and put him there. Treat him with some salt and good water. I wouldn't recommend salt in your 240 since you have a catfish, and I've read that they get liver(or other organ) problems.

You cant house a tsn in a 240 for long i think you need to find a home for him before you loose your aro .The 75 is only a short term solution unless you have plans for a 600g . find the aggressor and get him out of your tank protect your aro, i love tsn cats but i cant house one.the gar is illegal in my state so i have no first hand knowledge i do know they are nasty.

The 75 gallon is up and running. I put 2 guppies and a convict for now, will add the aro in the morning.

I'll keep you guys updated
