black aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe with proper care, they will get 30-32" its the 40" fellows which are not likely seen in the aquarium.

o ok....if i got a black aro(have to order 1 in so not in the near future) how long would it last in a 5by2by2 before i had to rehome or sell it

Depends on what size black ya start with. Figure black aros grow about 6-8" a year. I have had mine for 4 months and it has grown 2". In this thread by Tman you can see his black aro grew 24" in 3 years. If you start with a 6-8" fish I would say in about 2 years he'll be around 20", it will then be up to you to decide how long it says in your current tank.

Depending on your budget why not get an Asian arowana.

They max out at 2 feet (mostly) in aquaria and are frequently kept in 5x2.5x2's.

They're not too violent with tank mates either, with the usual provisos.

Edited to add: Actually they are frequently kept in 4x2x2's all over the far east. Whether that's enough seems to be down to the conscience of the individual fish keeper.

not sure i have looked at asian aro and the cheapest i saw was £800 and i would not pay that. anyway i dout i can get one now as iam only getting a 4by2by2 so not aro for that

did u ever upgrade ur tank yet bderick?

a 5x2x2 will be fine for a few years, atleast 2-4 years. depends on his eating habbits and how much good stuff u feed. also its a black, they grow slower, so u could get 5 years or so out of it. chances are u wont even keep it that long. so i say get it and u should be fine.

Yes several times for the smaller silver 55g to 75g to 120g to 150g to 180g:nilly:

Currently the 2 silvers are in the 180g and the black is in the 120g
