black arow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i'm lucky to have 'rents that don't mind all the tanks and fish. after all, it was my pops that got me into aros.

maybe you could trade your 125 for a 120 (4x2x2) or sell it and buy a 120. i think that footprint is better than the 125's footprint. you could also tell your folks that its smaller. haha :)

Haven't gotten it yet, I'm just searching craigslist right now. Problem is it has to go in a narrow walkway and the less it protrudes the better

Any cattle feed store/tractor supply company.

You can use a 300gal+ round horse troth. $150 i think.

ok if i find one next question, how do i filter that

IMO you should wait on getting the black arowana. Make sure you at least have the 125g first. Possibly you could make the 18 months, but with the unpredictable growth rate a year is more likely.

Up to you. A year is just my personal opinion. Growth rates vary but you just don't want a 3 foot fish that only has 18" to turn in. You'll find some that say longer and probably a few that say a year is too long.

You seriously don't believe a black arowana is going to grow 31 to 33" in 18 months do you?

Once it got too big you could always buy one of those cheap 300 gallon pools (or rubbermaids) and keep it in there until you upgraded. They're round so there's plenty of turning space.

its not only the money its convincing the 'rents
a 125 is a big stretch for them lol
how much would a big rubbermaid container be?

What makes you think it would be easier or possible to convince 'rents to get a 300g tub if a 125g tank is a stretch. The 300g tub sure as heck won't fit in a narrow walkway. Filtering in not the only challenge, you also will have to provide a arowana proof cover.

You have know idea what you are talking about do you? You can't suggest putting an arowana in a 4 foot long tank.

whoa... slow your roll there buddy. i know it is not ideal, but in a stretch, it should work better than a 125g tank that is only 18" wide. in a perfect world, everyone that wants to keep an aro would have at least an 8'x3' footprint, but its not a perfect world and we all have to make the best of what is available to us. it was merely a suggestion about what another possible option would be. i'm no expert, just a hobbyist trying to help a fellow hobbyist out.
